Music from some of the all-time great harmonica masters to honor the life and music of Toots Thielemans, one of the greatest of all, who died earlier this week at the age of 94. Also a preview of the 24th annual New World Festival, another high point in a summer full of great folk music.

The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe presents Bob Stannard, Mark Lavoie, John LaRouche, and Tom Herzig, four of Vermont’s premier harmonica players. They’ll be backed by one of the best blues bands in New England. The date is Saturday September 3rd.
Bob and Sarah Amos will be performing at Bagitos in Montpelier on Thursday September 1st at 6 p.m. Brett Hughes and Kat Wright will be recording a live album at their performance at the First Congregational Church of Westfield, VT on ThursdaySeptember 1st at 7:30 p.m.
Cantrip will be giving a house concert on Friday, September 2nd at the home of the Houghtons in Sunderland VT. The occasion begins with a pot luck supper at 6:00, music at 7:30. Call (802) 375-9269 for reservations.
On Monday September 5th Gypsy Reel will be performing their annual concert in the Bandstand on Weston Green. Bring chairs and a picnic. Music begins at 4pm.
DaddyLongLegs will be performing a free concert at City Hall Park in Burlington on Wednesday August 31st at noon.
Lewis Franco will be playing at the Hardwick Farmer’s Market on Friday September 2nd at 4pm, and at the Montpelier Farmer’s market with the Brown Eyed Girls on Saturday September 3rd from 10:30am until 12:30.
The Brattleboro Dawn Dance turns 40 on Sunday, September 4th! This annual event draws dancers from all around the northeast. English dancing starts at the Stone Church in downtown Brattleboro from 2:30pm to 5:30, followed by contra dancing across the street at the Gibson-Aiken center from 8:00 pm until the sun comes up and the lights go out. The 24th annual New World Festival will be held in downtown Randolph on Sunday September 4th. Featured artists include Paddy Keenan, Cantrip, the Yves Lambert Trio, Norman Kennedy, Vishten, Jeremiah McLane, and many many more!
The Bombadils will perform at the Ripton Community Coffee House on Saturday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m. Concert begins at 7:30 pm.
The Monadnock Folklore Society presents the Peterborough, NH First Saturday Contra Dance on September 3rd, featuring Adina Gordon calling with David Langford, Kate Barnes, and Glen Loper providing live music. The dance takes place in the historic Town House in Peterborough, NH, and dancing begins at 8 p.m.
The Vermont band Full Circle will be playing at the Shelburne Farmer’s Market on Saturday September 3rd from 10 a.m. until 12:30.
The Colonial Theater in Bethlehem, NH presents Ani DiFranco on Monday August 29th at 8 p.m.
